This is a letter from our beloved pet who has crossed over to the otherside. I created this as a tribute to such love and devotion that only such creatures can share.
Euthanasia -- Articles on euthanasia; grief; guilt.
Animal Clergy -- Support resources
to those people who are bereaved over the loss of an animal they have loved.
Condolences:
My thoughts go out to you and your family as you grieve for
Stewart. Perhaps I
can offer something that will comfort you. For years I have made it a habit to
stop on the roadside
whenever I can to rescue birds, turtles, squirrels, rabbits and other creatures.
Too often they are dead. But sometimes they are still clinging to life.
Occasionally I transport them to the wildlife rehabilitation center and they
survive. I don't
write this to tell you I'm doing good deeds. I write because often I have
held a beautiful creature as he or she has died in my hands. When this happens, I
hope that he or she knows that death came in the hands of someone who cares
and who loves. When this happens, I cry as you would. I close my eyes
and I picture the family of this creature in the nearby woods, hoping, as does
the creature I hold, that they are safe. Sometimes I feel the creature knows I
care, and that all things will be taken care of because others still care.
Stewart knew this same love, this caring bond, and because of it he went to
rainbow bridge in peace.
